Hello everyone. My name is, Lisa, I
was born and raised in Arizona. I come from a family of six, three brothers and
two sisters. I graduated from Ironwood High School and received my diploma and
my cosmetology license a few months later. Getting my license was a backup plan
that allowed me to go after other dreams knowing if it didn’t pan out I could
just do hair and search for the next adventure in life. I have only lived
outside this state when I was serving in the United States Navy. Seeing this as an opportunity to see other
parts of the world, I also saw it as a chance to be an independent person.
During my tour I was fortunate
enough to be stationed in the golden state, California. I lived only minutes
from Pacific Beach and every free moment was spent there. I worked as a machinist mate that is; I was
responsible for over-seeing the operations of boilers and steam systems. This was
a great time in my life until I gave birth to my daughter. She changed my
outlook in life and the order of my priorities. With only six months left and a
new baby I chose to finish my tour and exit the service. As much as I believed in
a family my other half just wasn’t ready to be tied down and with a daughter,
so I moved back to Arizona in the year, 2000. Leaving California was a sad time
for me this was the place I felt I belonged and I had to turn my back and move
on. From this point on I worked as a cosmetologist
and enjoyed being a single mom. My focus was my daughter and giving her a great
life. About six years later I met my current husband, Jamie, who from the
moment I met him I knew he was the man I was meant to be with. He instantly connected
with my daughter and they soon formed a strong bond. We have been a family unit
ever since.
This year I decided to go back to school.
Needing a change I picked a path in the medical field. With all the support of
my family I was able to begin that path. College has become very exciting and knowledgeable.
Learning how the teachings have changed from when I was in school. I realized
how many people that go to college do not take it serious and assume they have
so much time to retake a class so no big deal. Seriously! I guess the difference is life experiences. My
goal is to complete my pre-req’s and
begin my MLT program.
