AE # 6 Can't believe it's over.

The “blog” was quite an experience for me. During the process, I learned so much on how to make meaningful entries that would get my point across and still stay within the non-offensive posts. I have a lot to say on some subjects and may come off very opinionated, but I am open to any ideas or beliefs that may counteract the ones I believe in. The blog was a nightmare in Eng. 101, but I found that if you dig a little on the internet and explore other people’s blogs anything is possible.
I think that spending a little more time on the blog set-up to help get a better understanding. The assigned entries made it easy to post but when it came to self- generated, all I could do was wonder hmm what to write. I do feel this time around I did a much better job at posting worthy entries. Blogging is far better than writing 4 to 6 page essays. This really is a great way to get writing projects done and get to know a person at the same time. With so many options at our fingertips, it makes the assignments so easy.
I think the “blog” is a great tool for Eng. It helps to refine our writing skills and apply it to the essays that are assigned. Also, being able share an opinion in a blog that may not come out right in a discussion. This might be pushing it too much but I think if we have to blog daily or three times a week might give us a better idea of the time put into a great and successful blog. Thank you very much for pushing me to step outside of the box for a new adventure.

SG 5 Media Funnies

The good thing that comes from poor telling of the news would have to the funny punch lines or cartoons created. I know they may be inappropriate but they are so darn funny. A news show that was discussing the extinction of animals due to global warming clearly made a mistake while trying to sct like he knew everything.

News anchor says humans hunted dildo to extinction instead of dodo

CNN International presenter Jonathan Mann was in the middle of making an important point about climate change when he confused the name of the sex toy with that of the extinct bird.
While talking about a study that said some species of animals wouldn’t be able to adapt in time to the rising temperatures, he said: ‘Now extinctions, I don’t have to tell you, have been a part of the history of the world for millennia.
‘And man-made extinctions have even happened before.
‘I guess we hunted the dildo into extinction’.
He quickly realized he had made a mistake and corrected himself, adding: ‘Um, but, the dodo, rather, forgive me, I’m having trouble with my words today.’

This was hilarious. Jonathon could not even keep a straight face afterwards. News should always be so honest and natural and not fabricated and so far from the truth, that you hardly recognize the original story at all.

AE #5

The media seems to have a great effect on peoples and their lives. Every day I view the news whether it be a newspaper or t.v., they all seem to blow up the situation. If someone is gunned down, in his or her own home, the news is already speculating the possible causes and sometimes they are so far from the truth but they do not care. These assumptions or speculations that people hear causes them to pre-judge the tragedy and begin to gossip. This is what children do when they get bits and pieces of a story, they just fill in the blanks.
Sad that our news media takes on the same traits as children playing telephone. Media has gone away from fact-based stories to fabricated stories. Glorifying a bad situation is horrible and disgusting. People who have passed that are famous are no longer focused on because of their accomplishments just of their disgraces. When learning a celebrity or politician has died I do not care if he or she didn’t pay their taxes or that they had drugs on them. Their gone, and if nothing was said prior to their demise than it should be kept quiet.
While researching books, articles, and websites for information I discovered so much it was hard to pick from. The negative far outweighs any positive news stories. The sad things is when the news reporter gets the information wrong it can destroy a person’s good name, and even if they correct the mistake it will never again be fixed. An example is that of an aunt of two kids that died in a house fire. The news portrayed her as a woman with no compassion for the two boys and could only think of her food stamps.I am almost certain that this is not the way she wanted the world to see her. Most everyone deals with a tragedy different than others. Why do they have to always make the situation seem as if these people are ignorant and selfish? I feel like this country has stepped so far away from moral and self respect that we now live in an anything goes society!

SG#4

This video may just be a funny cartoon but it gives a simple example on the effects of change.
The country should not have to be broken down to be rebuilt, just make the changes to secure our futures. I certainly agree that we as a country can not continue to go down the same road as we are now. We need changes, but I do not agree that we as a community should own land or buildings or share equal pay. Owning a house and car is part of the American Dream! The freedom of choices far out weighs any other choice of lifestyle. I am not a heartless person I too want to help our unemployed, homeless, sick and anyone deserving of the help. I am tired of the free handouts to those who expect it and feel that the hard working Americans owe it to them. We need to stand up against the people who have done nothing with their lives and continue to empty our pockets! I work very hard in my life as does my husband and I love to share and give to people but I can not stand seeing individuals with top dollar shoes or the latest phones and a brand new suv standing line to have their electric bill paid, or assistance for a house payment. This is where the change needs to begin from the bottom feeders they need to be retrained and taught that nothing comes free!

AE #4 Capitalism is not going away.

Source: davespertine           Capitalism is not a Dirty word. Capitalism is seen as evil, as greed and as a system that needs to be replaced. Many people have the same opinion and views when it comes to capitalism. Although it has been the American way for years, we do need to make changes in a way that will benefit everyone equally. I really believe that it is up to an individual to make their own mark in this life and how much money they make depends on how hard one is willing to work. Yes, many  "elites"  have profound affect of where money goes and who get the majority, truth is any person that owns their own business deserves to say who gets what. The government oversees how these companies are dispersing their money and yet money is still swindled, or placed over seas. The real people responsible for the miss use in capitalism is our very own government. The government made of our peers are suppose to have the American people's back and best interests, and they do as long as they benefit from it. Obama bailed out many financial institutes but did not follow up on where the money went until it was to late. Prior to dispersal of the money, stipulations how the money is used, fees set for the bail-out, and fines for the miss use of the money. This should have been put in place prior to dispersal of the money to avoid any fraud by the financial institutions. So again I ask who is taking advantage of capitalism? The late President Kennedy once asked what can the American people can do for their country and if he was here today he would be disgusted at his own fellow governmental  peers. Many of our soldiers will never make close to what a movie star might earn, nor will he earn what a senator might make, but he/she by far does more for his/her country than any other citizen. So do the people have it all backwards? Yes! We need to make a change but it has to start in our own back yard. People that never work a day in their life get assistance to provide care for the children or themselves. These are the same people screaming that they deserve to have what others around them have, yet they choose to sit at home and do nothing about it. So are they affected by capitalism? No, they are not taking advantage of all there is to offer in life. This would be known as Socialism. They have created a new problem.
According to, Capitalism, Socialism or Communism; Class Warfare - Rich vs. Poor          Social Justice and Income Redistribution

Capitalism:
Under Capitalism, individuals own and control land, capital, and production of industry.  Individuals are free to purchase and own their own homes, cars, furniture, and other goods such as TV, radios, computers, boats, or any thing else you might want. You have total freedom to live where you want and what type of job field you want to pursue.  If you have an idea for a new business or invention, you are free to pursue this without government interference.  Under this system you have the  maximum number of choices in life.  This is the 'pursuit of happiness' from the Declaration of Independence.

Socialism:
Socialism is a concept that individuals should not have ownership of land, capital (money), or industry, but rather the whole community collectively owns and controls property, goods, and production.  Ideally, in this system all share equally in work and the fruits of their labor.  Ideally this is a Christian version of help the poor and needy, sharing equally, but in the real world this can cause some problems as we will see later.

After learning the difference which do you pick. Does equally really mean that if one person makes $50.00hr and the other only $10.00hr should they have to give up $20.00 to make it equal? Now ask yourself after working all day do you want to divide your earnings equally with another person who chooses not to better themselves? How would it feel to come home and not own it or have to share it someone that is homeless! Capitalism is not the problem the way it is being abused is the real problem.

SG 3 to snore or not to snore

Has anyone lived with someone that snores so loud the house shook? Well I do! My husband is so tired after working his 12-hour shifts at the hospital that he is fast asleep. The only problem is while he may be getting good night’s sleep I am going crazy trying to sleep. It seems as soon as I lie down and start to drift off, an earth shattering noise that scares the living hell out of me. I don’t remember the weatherman calling for thundershowers; I sit up and catch my breath only to realize it is just my husband snoring. My goodness never did I think it was possible that someone can snore so loud that not a single person in the house can sleep. I swear it sounds like a damn freight train coming through my bedroom with all the bells and whistles. While sitting up in bed staring at him I cannot decide if I should gently nudge him or smack him and quickly lay down before he learns it was me. Then there is that temptation to tickle his nose and watch him smack at it. Don’t get me wrong I love him dearly but it is funny watching him sound asleep making more noise than when he is awake.  Once the freight train rolls over it is quite peaceful and I finally fall asleep. When he gets ready to leave, he says good-bye and I sleep for an hour longer but once the afternoon hits I am exhausted. When I tell him, he does not understand why I am so tired. Are you kidding me! How does he not wake himself up with all that thundering noise?  Just a little info men are more of a snorer than women. Whoever said nose strips work should be taped down with them. ;-)zzzz

AE 3 Shorter turn around times

This article was very interesting. I feel that the article was geared towards a wide variety of people such as, students, professors, other colleges, and other states. By releasing this article, they are getting the feedback necessary to make the proper choice for the college. Many classes have already begun the process of being cut short. I see both sides and believe that it really depends on the type of student you, are and what your expectations are for the future. Obviously, if you are a lazy slacker or procrastinator the original class periods are much better suited for you but if you have your head in the game and are set out to get it done this would be best for you.
Now in regards to some of the comments about classes not meeting state licensing board apparently have not thought this through before commenting on the article. Universities are fully aware of the state requirements for many course licenses and or degrees. They are not going to put their money making machine at risk of running dry. The classes would be more of the pre-requisites needed prior to entering into the desired program. This would allow for more students in college, same amount of money and happy, happy, employees and students. This is already taking place all over the world.
I personally have only taken a few classes at regular time and the rest have all been at an accelerated pace. I chose this route to complete my goal and move on to the career field of my choice. The only down fall is you may finish in time to begin the program of your choice but it doesn’t mean you’ll get accepted in. not because you didn’t meet the requirements but the college does not have enough seats available for everyone. Although, this may be a great idea the college needs to rethink how they are going to manage the increased students wanting to attend programs that only offer a designated number every year. My suggestion would be to hire more professors in these fields and open up the class student count. This will benefit everyone and again be a greater profit for the college.   Businesses will benefit as well, they get more trained employees at a quicker turn around time. with so many baby boomers getting ready to retire the need for replacement is in high gear.

SG 2 Football Hazing Or Racism

Why is it that every time two people in a professional career have a disagreement one pulls the race card? Does everything really come to color of the skin still? For instance, the football players from the dolphins team (Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin). Here we have to men that treat each other in a manner that seems to be acceptable in football but highly unacceptable by the public. They are acting like cave dwellers who do not have any sense to know better. One is just as guilty as the other is in this case. Many other Dolphin players have come forward in favor of Incognito stating that if anyone was like a brother to Martin, it was Incognito. So what really went on?

What about the responsibility of them team coaches, managers, and its owners? Martin had to have taken steps in reporting these incidents to someone, yet no hard evidence or concrete proof has surfaced just a lot of "hearsay”. These men have options and a chain of command to follow when reporting abuse or any complaints. Martin is responsibility to write down dates, and times of the incidents, whom he spoke to when reporting to a superior. Now many people’s lives are affected by this kind of behavior. People who get paid millions to play football act like immature teenage boys.

Hazing is out of control everywhere. Since there is no physical, aspects left of hazing only mental then this should not be a problem. Wrong! That can be the worst kind of hazing. The mind is not designed to take constant mental abuse, eventually someone is going to snap. However, let us look at both sides and how the comments that these two men threw back and forth to one another played out. Both had comments of race and both threatened each other’s families with murder yet only Incognito is being exploited here. So if both used racial slurs to make a point why is Incognito the one being labeled a racist? Both men need to be frowned upon for the hateful things they said and the disgusting comments of their families! If I were married to either man they would definitely have an ear full and I would really think about my future with someone that thinks it’s okay to threaten another man’s family for a better game night! I ask again is this really about racism or just two dumbasses that didn’t know when to quit? This does not excuse Incognito from his actions as a bully but it does make Martin look a little silly waiting over a year to take action?

AE#2 Slanted opinion.

While standing in line at the grocery story I glance through one of many “smut” magazines. The titles are so catching it makes you want to open up to the big story itself. I cannot help but get caught up and want to know more about the major story of the magazine. As I am reading the story I catch myself making opinions of the person in the story is about, leaning towards the same opinion as the author of the magazine article. I wonder how these people can get away with doing the mean things they do to the ones they claim to love. Have they no morals or respect for others not to commit these hateful acts against each other!
US Weekly, an example of a “smut” magazine, always has major titles that are very tempting and draw the reader in making them want to buy the magazine. There it is the tactic! The idea is, that if they present catchy titles a person will buy the magazine and it worked.  Then while continue to read the magazine you begin to realize that all the stories are only of opinions not facts. The article is so enticing it gives the feeling that everything is true and factual, I mean why would they make it all up!  Not only does it seem factual they have pictures to represent their claims, it has to be true or they would not print the articles.
This is their goal. To present people with information in a manner that you cannot resist. They write the articles so that they seems like we all can relate to the lives of stars. Really, they just want to make money.

mothersdaywordcloud

So still researching for other blogs I came across one called,
“Top 25 Funny Moms”. This website lists the top 25 funny mom bloggers on the web. These women are not afraid to be straight and brutally honest while remaining to be just a mom. Also, discussed is how to be a domestic diva with ways to shop, save, and still look sexy. The one thing that stood out was how you can have an interview with any one of these women. This is the first I’ve seen that being an option outside of just leaving comments. I am going to try it out and maybe learn something. Ha. Ha. Back to researching those blogs kind of fun reading about other people’s lives.

AE #1 Blogging

What is blogging? Blogging is another form of communication over the  internet. After a little researching on the web, I learned there are so many types of blog’s out there. Depending on what message they are trying to get across, would determine the type of audience they are reaching out too. For example, someone that is wanting daily information on the stock market can follow a stockbroker’s blog to gain helpful financial information. On the other hand, someone that just wants to blog about their daily routine or experiences can just post and receive comments on new things to do. In addition, you have blogger's that blog about following different authors of blogs.  So many blogs to name but most fall under, professional blog, casual blog, informational blog, personal blog etc.
Scenic beauty of nature photography 2The majority of blogs created and up loaded to internet really take form after they receive feedback. The author begins in a certain voice and eventually they change or conform to what the audience is looking for. Yes, blogging is an awesome way to get information out or show support for something one believes in, or just to vent. I found the informational and adventurous blogs very entertaining as well as informational.    “Adventurous Kate, single females guide to travel”, caught my attention. Kate goes into detail how a single woman can travel safely and worry free. While describing her amazing trips she gives advice on how to blend and course of actions to follow. What nice is even though she states in her title that her audience is the single woman, both men and women, married or single can really use this blog for pointer’s in traveling.
So even though blogging may not be for me personally it is a different way to learn about all sorts of things in today’s world.

Hello everyone. My name is, Lisa, I was born and raised in Arizona. I come from a family of six, three brothers and two sisters. I graduated from Ironwood High School and received my diploma and my cosmetology license a few months later. Getting my license was a backup plan that allowed me to go after other dreams knowing if it didn’t pan out I could just do hair and search for the next adventure in life. I have only lived outside this state when I was serving in the United States Navy.  Seeing this as an opportunity to see other parts of the world, I also saw it as a chance to be an independent person.

During my tour I was fortunate enough to be stationed in the golden state, California. I lived only minutes from Pacific Beach and every free moment was spent there.  I worked as a machinist mate that is; I was responsible for over-seeing the operations of boilers and steam systems. This was a great time in my life until I gave birth to my daughter. She changed my outlook in life and the order of my priorities. With only six months left and a new baby I chose to finish my tour and exit the service. As much as I believed in a family my other half just wasn’t ready to be tied down and with a daughter, so I moved back to Arizona in the year, 2000. Leaving California was a sad time for me this was the place I felt I belonged and I had to turn my back and move on.  From this point on I worked as a cosmetologist and enjoyed being a single mom. My focus was my daughter and giving her a great life. About six years later I met my current husband, Jamie, who from the moment I met him I knew he was the man I was meant to be with. He instantly connected with my daughter and they soon formed a strong bond. We have been a family unit ever since.

This year I decided to go back to school. Needing a change I picked a path in the medical field. With all the support of my family I was able to begin that path. College has become very exciting and knowledgeable. Learning how the teachings have changed from when I was in school.   I realized how many people that go to college do not take it serious and assume they have so much time to retake a class so no big deal. Seriously!  I guess the difference is life experiences. My goal is to complete my pre-req’s  and begin my MLT program.
